Recently, the City of Montebello transferred parking enforcement duties from its Police Department to the Code Enforcement division within the Planning and Community Development Department. This move was intentionally orchestrated to free up vital public safety personnel so they can focus on crime and community safety priorities. Parking Enforcement officers will soon be assisted by additional enforcement staff from Inter-Con Security. This will enable more robust City-wide parking enforcement in response to a growing number of resident and business complaints.

Parking Enforcement officers will now be able to respond and monitor posted parking signs and regulations with greater frequency and personnel to address illegally parked vehicles and other street and public parking violations. This includes more active enforcement including citations for street sweeping violations.

Residents and the public can expect more visible parking enforcement efforts beginning April 18, 2022. We advise all residents and community members to pay attention to posted parking signs, note days and hours of violations for street sweeping, and please cooperate by obeying signs or parking cars safely so that you don’t receive unwanted citations.

Where can I find Street Sweeping information?
Street Sweeping is conducted by Nationwide Environmental Services. For schedule and enforcement information, click here.

Can I park my car on the street after the sweeper has passed?
Citations are given to vehicles a sweeper has to move around during posted hours. If enforcement officers directly see a vehicle relocating to the street AFTER a sweeper passes, a citation will NOT be given.
BE ADVISED if for any reason an enforcement officer is not directly behind the street sweeper, and they observe an illegally parked vehicle on their route, a citation will be issued. Sweepers may revisit any street that needs additional cleaning and a citation can still be issued even if the first sweeper has passed. To avoid a citation, we recommend residents relocate vehicles to the street AFTER posted sweeping hours.
